I object to this term "Incidental." Nobody even knows what it means. The Russian term for this dichotomy is very clearly "carefree." We might also consider "level-headed" instead of "judicious." (Admin 00:03, 19 June 2007 (CDT))

Also, in my opinion, the list of Reinin dichotomies should be available on the page with that title. "Dichotomy" is a more general principle that could be discussed here in greater depth. (Admin 00:10, 19 June 2007 (CDT))

But was does "carefree" means ? and isn't the proper name "Foresighted" or something ? Machintruc 06:57, 19 June 2007 (CDT)

"Other key aspects of socionics, such as intertype relations, cannot be understood well through dichotomies. Intertype relation theory is built upon the interaction of IM elements, not the interaction of dichotomies."

Smilingeyes has done a fairly good job of explaining relations via dichotomies, so perhaps this statement is (if not false) a bit pessimistic. Maybe we could change it to "have not been fully explained through dichotomies". (Then again, as far as I know, not all of the relationships have been totally explained functionally, either.) Smilingeyes interpretation of relationships, as I see it, uses dichotomies to explain them as added to the functions, but not independently from the functions. Expat 04:12, 22 June 2007 (CDT)

While functions and dichotomies are essentially equivalent, that is not really the issue at hand. What I was asking is, exactly which "key aspects" cannot be explained with dichotomies. As far as I can see, there are none. Thehotelambush 23:56, 4 July 2007 (CDT)

[edit] Math markup

"It is easy to prove that the number of dichotomies in the <math>nth</math> tier must be <math>_4C_n</math>."

Why aren't the <math> tags being translated? Thehotelambush 00:58, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

I think we should move this page back to Dichotomy, and then add sections for element and function dichotomies. I would do it myself, but the wiki software isn't letting me for some reason. (Admin?) Thehotelambush 21:38, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
