Supersocion theory

Supersocion theory is an extension to socionics proposed by Anthony Caudill (User:Tcaudilllg). It is based on the work of C.G. Jung and derives heavily from the Model B proposed by Aleksandr Bukalov. The system describes many different types of phenomena relating to personality and society.

A basic assertion of supersocion theory is that the phenomena Aushra Augusta attributes to the socion are not fully accounted for by classical socionics. Supersocion practitioners argue that the investigation of classical socionics manifestations alone limits the capacity to understand sociological phenomena. To gain a fuller awareness of the socion one should consider alternate manifestations and relationships of the information elements beyond those proposed by Aushra Augustinaviciute. Because the full phenomenological extent of information aspect manifestations and their relationships is unknown, they are collectively called the supersocion as an expression of both their uncertain extent and the supposed enormity of such extent. The study of the supersocion is supersocionics. The theory of the supersocion which Anthony Caudill proposes employs Aleksander Boukalov's Model B and the methodological basis behind Functional Revise, with supporting ideas integrated as necessary to bring a sense of ordered relationship between supersocion phenomena.

[edit] Content of Supersocion Theory

Supersocion theory, like all type theories, is a categorical system. Certain assumptions are made to assist in the coherency of the categorization. One of these is the existence of opposition pairings between traits. Duality is another: each trait has a complementary trait which reinforces it. In its attempt to describe the supersocion to the fullest extent possible, supersocion theory is always striving for greater balance by identifying relationships of opposition and complementarity between traits. Sometimes recognizing the necessity of an opposite/complement requires the postulation of anterior assumption. If this practice seems haphazard or even unwarranted, consider that physicists frequently make assumptions as a means of advancing their theories, many of which are validated by experiment. It is the way of propositional logic, and just as our propositions balanced rationality to a situation, so too is there a characteristic of reality which itself balanced and logical. (although we can never know all of its dichotomous dimensions).

Supersocion theory imposes no restrictions on how many traits a person can have; in fact, supersocion theory argues that every person has every trait of personality, but at varying degrees of either comfort or confidence in the same. When we say that a person has a given type, we are in fact saying that they have confidence or comfort in a given trait, particularly at the exclusion of another, opposing trait. We are also declaring that they seek after a trait which is complementary to the same, as per the fundamental principle of socionics, duality.

[edit] Dual-type Theory

Dual-type theory is the postulation of an energy type that allows information metabolism to direct its energies confidently. The energy type consists of elements of information exerted, which differentiate themselves on the basis of individual aptitude. Dual-type theory is believed to conform to and to complement Model A.

[edit] Psychic Domain Theory

Psychic domain theory postulates the existence of information-specific filtering properties which color one's perception of the functions and of the world around oneself. Although the criterion for filtration differ between individuals, only eight such criterion are believed to exist, one of which always holds dominance over the others in an individual. By this thesis, population is segmented into octrants, each of which retaining to itself a distinct set of problems and proposed solutions. As in information metabolism, each octrant has a partner which complements it perfectly, creating four common domains of harmonious discussion. But just as there are complements, so too are there opposites whose clashes create civil conflict.

[edit] Transcendental Function Theory

Transcendental function theory postulates the existence of conflicts between the parts of functions. These ability of an individual to resolve their internal conflicts through their own mental capacities is believed an essential characteristic of personal growth.

[edit] Leaders vs Followers

The "leader/follower" dichotomy incorporates the concept of dominant vs submissive into supersocion theory. Follower types are carefree and mostly agreeable, while leader types are suspicious and argumentative.

[edit] Model B-contra

Model B-Contra ties all aspects of supersocion theory into a single model of information metabolism. Model B-contra derives from model B, but differs in that it breaks each function into two parts, one for processing the observer, and another for the observed.
